ProNet is a private/public partnership created by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Workforce Development Board by bringing together local businesses who donate in-kind services and a grant from the State of North Carolina Department of Commerce - Workforce Development Division.
Since February 2009, ProNet Charlotte has touched over 2,000 professionals in career transition. Our goal is to retain Charlotte's top talent to ensure we remain globally competitive.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Workforce Development Board The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Workforce Development Board (WDB) is a 24-person Board appointed by the Mayor of the City of Charlotte for two-year terms. The Board consists of 13 private sector and 11 public sector members. The private sector members represent all sectors of the local economy including construction, banking, medical, manufacturing, utilities, service and entertainment. The public sector members include Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), City of Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, N.C. Employment Security Commission, N. C. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Social Services, Charlotte Labor Council and other community-based organizations. The chair must be a representative of the private sector and is elected by the membership.
The purpose of the WDB is to provide policy, planning and oversight for local workforce development programs and addressing workforce issues as identified by the community. The WDB plays a key role in designing a workforce development system that meets the needs of the unemployed, underemployed, youth, welfare recipients and other individuals seeking to enter the workforce.
